Arsenal, Bayern Eye Cameroon Star Kofane in €100M Deal

Christian Kofane, the young Cameroonian forward lighting up the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, has emerged as one of Europe's most sought-after attacking talents, with his agent confirming concrete interest from several top clubs including Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Barcelona.

Agent Confirms Arsenal Contact

Speaking to the Daily Arsenal portal, Kofane's representative Eric Depolo confirmed that negotiations with the English Premier League leaders are already underway. "Yes, the interest from Arsenal is real. The manager Mikel Arteta rates him very highly," Depolo stated. He added that contact between himself and Arsenal is ongoing, though he acknowledged the club's immediate focus remains on winning the Premier League title. "After that, everything will move forward," he said.

Why Arsenal Hold the Edge

Among the clubs linked with Kofane, Arsenal are considered the frontrunners. Depolo cited cultural and linguistic ties as potential factors in the Gunners' favour, noting that Kofane speaks Spanish — a language also spoken by manager Arteta — and that French-Cameroonian defender William Saliba is already part of the Arsenal setup. Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the situation, though no formal offers have been reported from those clubs.

A €5M Signing Now Worth Ten Times More

Kofane joined Leverkusen at the start of the current season from Spanish second-division side Albacete Balompié for approximately €5 million, signing a contract through 2029. The three-time Cameroonian international has since justified that modest outlay many times over, contributing seven goals and eight assists across 39 competitive appearances. His market value is currently estimated at around €40 million, though his agent believes the real figure is far higher. "He is a €100 million player. With Kofane, Arsenal would have a top striker for the next ten years," Depolo declared.

Leverkusen Set for Massive Windfall

According to reports from Sky Deutschland, Bayer Leverkusen are seeking between €60 million and €70 million for the forward — a return of more than tenfold on their initial investment. Only the transfers of Kai Havertz to Chelsea for €100 million in 2020 and Florian Wirtz to Liverpool for €125 million in 2025 have generated greater fees for the Bundesliga club. Depolo was effusive in his assessment of his client's qualities: "I have never in my life received so many calls about a player as I am receiving now about Kofane. He is currently the best and most complete under-21 striker in Europe — fast, technically gifted, defensively disciplined and strong in the air." A final decision on any transfer is unlikely before the end of the season. Notably, Kofane and Leverkusen were eliminated in the Champions League round of 16 by none other than Arsenal.
