Cameroon's social media community was shaken over the weekend following the announcement of the sudden death of Tshatchoua Biyo Ange Steve, widely known online under the pseudonym Dr Pétrolier. The popular TikTok content creator's body was found in a state of advanced decomposition at his home, sending shockwaves across his large following and the broader influencer community.
A Chilling Prediction Before His Death
In what many followers now regard as an eerie foreshadowing, Dr Pétrolier had, in a live broadcast on TikTok fewer than 48 hours before his death, predicted a series of deaths within Cameroon's influencer community. During the same session, he issued a direct appeal to fellow content creators whom he alleged were involved in occult practices or satanic pacts, urging them to seek immediate repentance. The broadcast has since circulated widely, deepening speculation and distress among online communities.
A Lavish Lifestyle Raises Questions
Dr Pétrolier had publicly claimed to earn cumulative monthly revenues of approximately twenty million CFA francs through his TikTok activities. He was known for driving a Land Cruiser and residing in a luxury apartment whose monthly rent reportedly exceeded one million CFA francs. However, observers note that no verifiable or conventional source of income was publicly associated with the content creator beyond his social media presence, prompting questions about the true origins of his wealth.
Grief and Speculation Online
Since the news broke on Saturday evening, tributes and commentary have flooded social media platforms. While many followers have mourned the loss of a prominent digital personality, others have pointed to the circumstances of his death — the decomposed state of the body suggesting he had lain undiscovered for a significant period — as raising further unanswered questions. At the time of publication, neither family representatives nor law enforcement authorities had issued an official statement regarding the cause of death or the ongoing circumstances of the case.
